Educational visits

At Heal Somerset, we offer educational visits for groups of all ages and needs. To ensure safety and engagement, each group must be accompanied by a teacher, parent, or guardian. Our visits are designed to cater to schools, colleges, universities, and home-schooling groups—but any educational group with an interest in rewilding is welcome.

What can you do at Heal Somerset?

Every group is unique, so we tailor each visit to suit your objectives. Once you book an educational visit, our Community Engagement Manager will work with you to create a relevant and meaningful experience.

Here are some of the activities you could enjoy during your visit:

  • Learn about rewilding: See it in action and explore different land interventions

  • Survey species and habitats: Take part in reptile and bird surveys, earthworm comparisons, moth trapping, camera trapping or 3x3 square studies

  • Contribute to rewilding: Engage in activities like willow planting or building leaky dams

  • Get creative with natural arts and crafts: Paint the landscape, go on scavenger hunts or test out different textures with charcoal rubbings

  • Build outdoor skills: Learn fire-making or wildlife tracking techniques

  • Connect with nature: Participate in mindful movement or sensory activities
